We believe something very special takes place when we worship.
Word of God
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” (2 Tim 3:16)
We gather together every Sunday to hear the truth of the Bible proclaimed to us, that we may rejoice in the fullness of God's “living and active” Word. (Hebrews 4:12)
Preaching
“ …you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men[b] but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.” (1 Thess 2:13)
Biblical preaching is a touchstone of Calvary Lutheran Church. The Bible is the center of all of our preaching.
Praise
“Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord.” (Psalm 150:6)
God has created us to delight and rejoice in Him with our voices lifted high.
“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song". (Psalm 95)
Holy Communion
“The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.” (1 Cor 10:16-17)
Just as we truly receive Christ in His Word, so also do we truly have union with Christ in His Holy Supper.
Prayer
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” (Phill 4:6)
In Christ, we are blessed and honored to pray to our Father in the power of the Spirit, assured that God will hear us and bless us.
Baptism
“...having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.” (Col 2:12)
Baptism is God's gracious gift to us, where we are united to Christ by faith in His Word and through water. In Baptism, we are born again and made new people in Christ (Rom 6).
Kids at Calvary
Children are full members of the Body of Christ and at Calvary you’ll witness kids participating in and serving throughout worship. Children are encouraged to come as they are (wiggles and noises included), to pray, praise, and listen to the Good News of the Gospel that is for them! During worship, they serve as acolytes, readers, greeters, and help with the offering.
If your little one needs to move about, we have coloring tables set up in the back of the church with pages that fit our Sunday Scripture readings. There’s an unstaffed nursery space available as well with the service piped in for participation.
After service
We invite everyone to fellowship with treats and drinks and then head to our Christian Formation hour at 10:30a.m. Here we offer:
Staffed nursery (birth - 3 yrs)
Sunday School (Prek4 - 5th grade)
Confirmation (6 - 8th grade)
Student and Adult Bible Study
(9th grade – adult)
