Bible Study:  “Hard Questions”

Last January, Kyle Jones (Calvary’s Director of Youth and Family Ministry) offered a three-week course for adults, focused on how to study the Bible, how to identify themes, etc.   That series was so well received that Kyle will again be leading a series of four classes (with a possible 5th session) in January on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. This time we’ll be exploring the answers to the following hard questions of the Christian faith:

Tuesday, January 14 – Can I know that the Bible is true?

Tuesday, January 21 – Can God and evil coexist?

Tuesday, January 28 – Can Christianity and science coexist?

Additional week if desired:  Tuesday, February 4 – Can I know God outside the Bible?

How would you answer? Join us for some new insights and interesting conversation!  These classes will meet in the Sanctuary on the dates listed above at 10:30 am and will last approximately an hour. No materials or preparation are needed. Come to as many as you can!

NEW!  Sunday Morning  Study with Pastor Ken

Pastor Nelson is leading a five-week course on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. entitled “Understanding Lutheran Worship – Scope and Sequence”.  The class will meet in the Media Room, #110.   No preregistration or materials required.   The class will cover the following topics:

  • Introduction to Liturgy
  • Liturgical Posture, People and Furnishings
  • Church Calendar and Colors
  • Special Occasion Liturgies
  • The Liturgy in Daily Life

The sessions will help participants discover the historical and biblical foundations of Lutheran worship – the integrity of our worship rituals, and how the liturgy mirrors the experience of the Christian life.
